Haywards Heath Mayor celebrates ‘topping out’ at multi-million-pound new care home

Haywards Heath’s newest care home, set to open in October, has marked its latest construction milestone with the help of a special guest.

The Care UK team and representatives from construction partner, Jenner, were joined by the Mayor of Haywards Heath, Councillor Howard Mundin, who was given a special tour of Martlet Manor, on Butlers Green Road.

The purpose-built care home – which is expected to welcome the first residents in October 2021 – will provide an extensive range of care for older people in luxurious surroundings. Martlet Manor will have its own café, hair and beauty salon, cinema and lovely gardens for residents to enjoy at their leisure. The home will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 75 older people once it opens, and create more than 80 jobs in the community.

Bev Kennard, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “As one of the latest additions to a growing portfolio of residential care homes, Martlet Manor represents a major investment for Care UK, and reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in the area.

“I am delighted to have been a part of this milestone, and it was wonderful to welcome the Mayor of Haywards Heath as we step ever-closer to opening the doors to local people. We’re very much on track to give Councillor Mundin the grand tour once the project has been completed in October.”

Martin Sandall, Managing Director at Jenner, added: “The building work is progressing fantastically and the home is really starting to shape up, so we’re excited to be in a position to handover the reigns to the experienced team at Care UK in October as planned. There is a real need for high-quality care homes in the local area, so we’re proud to be working on this exciting project, and we look forward to seeing the completed home.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, which is set to open in October this year, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
