A new care home in Wilmslow is asking the community to nominate local heroes who could be rewarded with a cash prize.
Care UK’s Long Stone Manor, on Manchester Road, which is set to open its doors in March 2025, is searching for local people or organisations who go above and beyond for their community, friends or family and have a positive impact on the local area.
The worthy winner of the competition will receive £500 for their local heroism and will be presented with the funds at the care home’s grand launch event on 2nd April 2024, where they will be invited as a special VIP guest.
Emma Tiller, Home Manager at Long Stone Manor, said: “Everyone has an unsung hero in their life – the person who organises everything, is always there for whoever needs them and never shies away from lending a helping hand.
“Here at Long Stone Manor, we want to say thank you to those people who consistently go above and beyond in our local community – whether they’re a volunteer at a local charity, a leader at a community group or simply a friend who always goes the extra mile.
“We’re inviting locals to share their story, so we can say thank you with a well-deserved treat. We can’t wait to read lots of heart-warming stories!”
Those wishing to nominate a local hero can do so by visiting careuk.com/long-stone-manor/local-hero-competition before 11:59pm on Friday 31st January and explaining in 100-400 words why their nominee deserves to be rewarded.
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities. Long Stone Manor will also come complete with a café, cinema and hair salon, providing care for up to 60 people.
