I joined Care UK in 2002 as a home manager, as part of the transition of 12 Surrey County Council homes coming under the management of Care UK. Being part of a larger social care organisation opened up lots of new opportunities for me. I spent a year working with the team responsible for bids and new home planning, building and commissioning.

After working in our homes and in the development team, I took on the challenge of being Regional Director in Surrey. The county had and continues to have a growing need for social care, but also challenge in recruiting carers and other team members. I was proud to lead those ten homes – many of which were award winning.

I have an energetic leadership style and I like to encourage creative thinking in my team. I'm passionate about recognising individuals, team achievements, and celebrating in their successes. I firmly believe it’s important not only to regularly ask for feedback, but also to actively listen, which we must all find time to do in our busy environments.
