Two new festivals are coming to Edgbaston – and you won’t believe where they’re taking place.
Edgbaston locals are in for a treat this summer as two care homes in the suburb are set to host their own music festivals.
On Monday 26th June, from 1 pm-3 pm, Care UK’s Metchley Manor, on Church Road, is set to open its doors to local people for the brand-new Metchley’s Faire la Fete Festival.
Staying in Edgbaston but across the town, Care UK’s Edgbaston Manor on Speedwell Road, will be inviting the local community to join their Summer Food Festival on Wednesday 28th June, from 12 pm - 4 pm.
The fun-filled festival comes as both Edgbaston Manor and Metchley Manor celebrate Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Edgbaston Manor’s Summer Food Festival will see guests invited to experience a taste of the world’s cuisine from food truck style stalls, freshly prepared by the home’s dining team. Guests can enjoy live entertainment from Becca Gee, known by locals as the Queen of Rock. ‘n’ Roll and a fan favourite with residents.
At Metchley Manor, festival goers can experience live music from local entertainer, Hayley Brookes, who will be performing ABBA’s best hits. Visitors will be treated to a delicious barbeque, thoughtfully prepared by the home’s award-winning, Head Chef, Scott Tame.
Zoe Steventon, General Manager at Edgbaston Manor: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our festival celebrations here in Edgbaston, both at Metchley and Edgbaston Manor.
“Care Home Open Week offers the perfect opportunity to get together with loved ones and enjoy a celebration of live music. Many residents from our Edgbaston homes have fond memories of attending music festivals in their younger years, and this event will encourage them to look back and relive their festival-going years.
Kim-Marie Newton, General Manager at Metchley Manor, added: “We have many festivalgoers here in Edgbaston, and we’re really excited to ring in summer in style with our first-ever festival. We can’t wait to strike a chord with residents and the wider community!”
