Birmingham care home sets up Christmas toy drive

A care home in Birmingham is helping to ensure no child goes without a toy this Christmas by hosting its own Toy Drive in collaboration with The Salvation Army.

Care UK’s Edgbaston Manor, on Speedwell Road, has teamed up with The Salvation Army to encourage the local community to donate unused toys for children in need this Christmas.

The Salvation Army is dedicated to making sure as many children as possible receive a present under the tree at Christmas time. As part of their Christmas Present Appeal last year, they distributed more than 76,000 gifts to children and families across the UK.

The Toy Drive, which will be live at Edgbaston Manor from Friday 1st November to Thursday 5th December, will be located in the care home’s reception area. The care team is encouraging the public to donate gifts such as dolls, teddy bears, books, educational games, and clothes for children aged from 0 to 16-years-old.

Zoe Stevenson, General Manager  at Edgbaston Manor, said: “At Edgbaston Manor, we are always looking for ways to give back and support our community and local charities, which is why we are thrilled to be partnering with The Salvation Army to bring some Christmas magic to children who may otherwise go without.

“The Toy Drive is a wonderful way for the local community to come together and make a real difference this Christmas. We encourage everyone to drop by and donate anything they can that will bring a smile to a child’s face this festive season.”
