Ashford care home shortlisted for national award

Home achievement

A care home in Ashford is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

The Care UK team at Montfort Manor, on Kennington Road, is celebrating after being shortlisted in the Quality in Housekeeping category at the Caring UK Awards 2022.

The awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, and highlight the outstanding contributions made by care home teams.

Led by Head Housekeeper, Kerry Welch, the nomination is as a result of the determination of the whole housekeeping team who go above and beyond their roles, providing an outstanding level of service that supports the wider needs of the home.

Kerry leads a team of seven, who all take pride in delivering an exceptional service that is tailored to the individual needs and preferences of the residents. This has included adding additional storage in the resident’s private rooms, installing TVs and electrical equipment, and returning and repairing residents’ favourite items of clothing to them on the same day, after being laundered.

In addition to the team’s achievements, Kerry was also commended for ensuring her team thrive in their roles, which, in turn, allows them to provide the best quality of care possible to the residents. As an Infection Prevention Control Champion, Kerry is taking up more health and safety responsibilities as well as conducting the team’s inductions, regular Infection Prevention Control and relevant audits. This in turn encourages her team to continue learning so they too can progress in their careers with new challenges.

Joanne Eaton, Home Manager at Montfort Manor, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted in the Quality in Housekeeping category at this year’s Caring UK Awards.

“Kerry and the whole housekeeping team here at Montfort Manor live and breathe Care UK’s ‘whole home’ approach, chatting to residents as they clean, making them tea, and even finding ways to make their wishes come true. They consistently put the wellbeing and happiness of residents at the heart of everything they do, which has resulted in them building fantastic relationships with the residents and their relatives.

“To provide excellent person-centred care, it’s essential that the housekeeping, catering and lifestyle teams work closely together to effectively meet the wellbeing needs of the residents. This award has raised everyone’s spirits and we look forward to celebrating this fantastic achievement with the residents soon.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we can add this award to our growing achievements later this year.”

The Caring UK Awards 2022 will take place at the Athena in Leicester on 1st December 2022.
