A care home in Oxfordshire has been celebrating 40 years in the care sector by raising £1,560 for a local charity – with a unique fundraiser.
Rachel Scurr, Dementia Lead and Deputy Manager at Care UK’s Millers Grange, on Curbridge Road, took her commitment to the good cause one step further by opting to shave her hair to raise money for Dementia Oxfordshire.
The fundraiser is part of a range of activities and fundraising events the team at Millers Grange hosted to mark Care UK’s 40th anniversary, with the organisation aiming to collectively raise £40,000 to give back to local communities, charities, and organisations across the country.
Speaking of the experience, Rachel said: “I was delighted to be able to do something which would raise both funds and awareness for a cause so close to our hearts here at Millers Grange – I’m incredibly glad to have shared the experience with the team, residents and relatives who supported me.”
Alison Parry, Home Manager at Millers Grange, added: “We’ve had a great time celebrating Care UK’s anniversary and raising money for Dementia Oxfordshire – we’re especially proud of Rachel, who’s dedication and bravery in shaving her hair helped us raise more than we could have hoped.
“Here at Millers Grange, we’re incredibly keen to create strong links with our local community, supporting them where we can and enabling residents to have even more opportunities to make new connections outside of the home.
“We’re all really proud to be part of something so special and can’t wait to see how much money we’ve managed to raise collectively for charities across the UK!”
Millers Grange is a modern care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and end-of-life care, as well as short-term respite care.
