Islington care home residents time travel back to the 80s

A care home in Islington partied like it was 1982 to celebrate Care UK’s 40^th birthday. 

Residents and team members at Care UK’s Lennox House, on Durham Road, donned shoulder pads and legwarmers to enjoy an evening celebrating everything eighties to mark the care homes provider’s milestone birthday.

Everyone enjoyed a disco with classic hits from throughout the decade before enjoying a buffet prepared by the home’s Head Chef. 

Commenting on the evening, resident Helen Oyedepo, said: “It was such a beautiful night – and I actually felt like I was in the 1980s again!”

Joe Nichols, Home Manager at Lennox House, said: “With Care UK turning 40, and many residents enjoying the music, fashion and dance of the eighties, we knew we had the perfect opportunity to dig out our platform heels for the ultimate eighties evening. 

“Judging by the smiles on everyone’s faces, the night was a hit. It was lovely to hear residents discussing their favourite memories from the eighties and revisiting the iconic fashion and music from such a memorable decade. 

“I would like to say a big thank you to the team for organising the event and transporting us back to 1982. The evening really was a highlight of the year here at Lennox House.”
