Wantage’s newest care home celebrates grand launch with special guests

 

Residents and team members at Wantage’s newest care home were joined by the local community and a host of special guests for a grand launch celebration.

Care UK’s Charlton Lodge, on Buttercup Road, was officially declared ‘open’ by the Mayor of Wantage, Councillor Dr Angela Dunford, who cut the ribbon and joined residents for the festivities.

Guests were treated to an afternoon to remember, with live entertainment from singer Charmaine and Wantage Silver Band, who played a mixture of popular music to get everyone into the celebratory spirit. The team at Charlton Lodge also organised a classic Mini car display in the car park to pay tribute to the Mini factory in Cowley, with the home’s cinema and pub having been decorated in a Mini theme.

After enjoying a glass of bubbly and some tasty canapés, guests were given the opportunity to tour the new home and sample some of the delicious home-cooked meals that are on the menu for residents daily, prepared by Charlton Lodge’s chefs.

Carla Kell, Home Manager at Charlton Lodge, said: “Our grand launch party was a huge success and the perfect way to officially open Charlton Lodge.

“Our neighbours have been so warm and welcoming, and we loved meeting so many local people – we already feel like part of the community!

“We were delighted to be joined by our special guests and would like to extend a big thank you to Councillor Dr Angela Dunford for cutting the ribbon. It truly was a day to remember, and we hope to welcome everyone again very soon for more fantastic events at Charlton Lodge.”

The Mayor of Wantage, Councillor Dr Angela Dunford, added: “Seeing the transformation from a building site to the wonderful, welcoming home I saw yesterday was incredible.  It was lovely to meet the staff and first residents. I wish them all much happiness.”
