We’re passionate about providing the best of care for older people and we’re proud of the thousands of talented and committed people who work for Care UK. In 2019 many of our colleagues and teams have garnered top care sector awards. It’s quite a list!
Care Home Awards
Three of our teams were winners at these national awards:
Care UK also took home the award for Best Larger Care Home Group. Four of our homes were also highly commended across a range of other categories.
National Dementia Care Awards
We took away two awards from a shortlist of four finalists. Katherine Matthews, Home Manager of Perry Manor in Worcester, won Dementia Care Manager of the Year. Broadwater Lodge in Godalming continued their run of success, winning the Best Dementia Garden award for their home farm.
Caring UK Awards
Three Care UK homes won at these national awards:
Scottish Care Awards
Jenny Coutts, Unit Manager of the Lochnagar dementia suite at Tor-Na-Dee in Aberdeen, took home Nurse of the Year Award in these hotly contested awards
Leaders in Care
Omar Taylor, Care UK’s Regional Director for the South Midlands, was recognised as a care sector ‘leader of the future’ at these awards, organised by Care Home Professional and Home Care Insight magazines.
National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards
Ferndown Manor in Dorset won Care Establishment of the Year for its restaurant-quality dining experience and the way it involves residents in developing new menus. Care UK’s hospitality team were ‘highly commended’ in the
Catering Team of the Year category.
NACC Care Cook of the year
In the final of this prestigious competition, Graham Watson, Head Chef at Lauder Lodge in Edinburgh, achieved ‘highly commended’ for his dessert.
Suffolk Care Awards
We celebrated two wins: Cedrus House in Stowmarket won ‘Excellent person-centred care at end of life’ while Mills Meadow in Framlingham won in the ‘Excellent stimulating environments for service users’ category.
Surrey Care Awards
Appleby House and Broadwater Lodge were once again on the podium. The Appleby House team won the Excellence in Dementia Care award, while Angela Bookham, Home Manager at Broadwater Lodge, won Registered Manager of the Year.
