Britten Court wins award at the Hotel Housekeeping Honours

Company news

Colleagues at Britten Court are celebrating after winning the Care Home of the Year award at the 2024 Hotel Housekeeping Honours ceremony that took place at The Grand Brighton Hotel on the 24th October.

The team at Britten Court impressed the judges with the commitment and dedication of the housekeeping team.

Head Housekeeper, Michelle Norman has been working at Britten Court since it first opened. Michelle joins the senior management team on morning walk-arounds to ensure the expected high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained. Michelle continues her inspections throughout the day to make sure residents and their families are happy with the housekeeping team’s work.

Another point that impressed the judges was the housekeeping team’s involvement in activities and events within the home.

Activities and events form an important part of life at Britten Court and the housekeeping team works with colleagues to prepare the home. An event to celebrate D-Day saw the team transform the home ready for visits from the British Legion and 1940s singers, while the Care UK Sports Day meant the home was open to the public throughout the day with work for the team to do in preparation and to maintain the look of the home as the event unfolded.

The team plays a positive role in activities in the home – they are as likely to be seen dancing with a resident as they are wielding a duster! They work hard to create an environment which is pleasant and fulfilling for residents, and which allows their colleagues in other departments to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.
