On Friday 28th June, Laurel Dene will be open from 11am - 4pm, and Charlotte House will be open from 1pm - 4pm. Whitefarm House will be open from 11am - 5pm.
Greville House will also be open on Friday 28th June, from 10.30am - 4pm. The events celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
The four homes have organised art-themed parties to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun.
Visitors can look forward to polishing their artistic skills during arts and crafts sessions with toddlers, as well as live jazz music and a tasty afternoon tea at Charlotte House. The team at Laurel Dene has organised a pearly kings and queens party, including a live 1960s-themed concert to get everyone in the party spirit, and a traditional ‘cockney’ seafood platter.
At Whitefarm Lodge, guests can take part in a Creative Minds arts and crafts session, enjoy poetry reading and dance performances as well as paper craft workshops and live entertainment from singer, Jane Beaumont, and the Wonder 4 Singers.
Visitors to Greville House are asked to ‘dress to impress’, with a ‘day at the races’ themed party. There will be live entertainment to get everyone in the party spirit, visitors can watch Royal Ascot, and enjoy an art exhibition of residents’ work.
Vivian Epie, home manager at Greville House, said: “Care Home Open Day is such a wonderful opportunity for our home to connect with the local community and show what it’s really like to live in a care home. We’re counting down the days until we welcome the people of Richmond to Greville House for our exciting street party.”
Shane Cosgrove home manager at Whitefarm Lodge, added: “The residents are really excited to showcase their artistic skills. I know the residents and community are going to have a great time!”
