Friday June 21 saw the launch of National Care Home Open Day and locally Care UK homes grabbed the chance to celebrate the very best in residential care.
The open day is designed to show members of the public how modern care homes are run and to demonstrate what can be achieved for older people through excellent care. It also gives our teams and residents the chance to talk to people about their ideas about care and dignity.
Care UK homes homes hosted events and gave away free copies of our new book, which gives lots of ideas on how people can use Activity Based Care (ABC) with their relatives.
At Charlotte House, in Isleworth, residents and the team held a traditional afternoon tea in the home’s grounds, while at Greville House, in Richmond, visitors joined in a Victorian-themed day as the team dressed up in costume and served afternoon cream teas.
At Laurel Dene, on Hampton Hill, visitors were treated to a fabulous fashion show for glamorous grandparents, face painting and afternoon tea and finally, at Whitefarm Lodge in Twickenham, there were also cream teas and a chance to view a display of residents' activities.
If you would like to learn more about ABC and how it can improve older people’s independence and wellbeing you can download your copy of our booklet from www.careuk.com.
