A care home in Ferndown is inviting the community to join them for a ‘berry’ fun healthy eating and hydration workshop.
Keen to share the team’s expertise about healthy eating and the importance of hydration for those in later life, Care UK’s Ferndown Manor, on Golf Links Road, is inviting local people into the home on Thursday 20th March from 2pm-4pm for the special event.
On the day, the community will be able to sample healthy twists on classic recipes while chatting to Ferndown Manor’s Head Chef, David Marshall. David will also share information on the symptoms, causes and impact of high blood sugar levels, as well as tips on spotting the signs of dehydration and improving appetite.
The nutrition and hydration session aims to provide family carers, and those living with health conditions such as diabetes, with a space to ask questions and learn practical tips and simple food swaps. Guests will also have the chance to share experiences with other people in a relaxed group setting and can pick up a free guide to take home.
The event has been designed to get local people talking about how to keep fit and healthy in older age. Care UK has also created an online advice hub which takes a closer look at how appetites and tastes change with age, features expert advice from nutritionists, and offers a selection of delicious and quick recipes to try.
Sara Muslin, Home Manager at Ferndown Manor, said: “We can’t wait for the local community to join us for our nutrition and hydration event.
“Here at Ferndown Manor, we’re passionate about raising awareness and reducing misconceptions around nutrition and hydration in older age. It can be challenging to know how best to support your loved one – which is why we’re inviting the community to join our talented Head Chef who is keen to share his valuable expertise.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming some new faces and old friends for a chat over some delicious and nutritious food.”
