A care home in Fareham treated residents to a seaside experience right on their doorstep at a special summer event
The team at Care UK’s Parker Meadows, on Redlands Lane, transformed the home into a tranquil coastal retreat, bringing the charm of the seaside to residents and their families.
The team went above and beyond to recreate the beach atmosphere complete with sand, deck chairs and sandcastles.
Residents and relatives enjoyed traditional seaside treats, indulging in ice cream and fish and chips while laughing along to a lively Punch and Judy show and playing in the water and sand.
Commenting on the fun-filled event, Kay Farrington, resident at Parker Meadows said: “It was the Punch and Judy I remember, a real classic that took me back to the days of chips on the pier on our family holidays.” Another resident, Jane Robinson, added: “I have not laughed that much for so long”
Matthew Smith, General Manager at Parker Meadows, said: “We were delighted to transform the home into a peaceful sanctuary for the residents.
“It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves and reminiscing about their own seaside holidays. Events like this are so important for residents' well-being, as they bring a sense of joy and community into the home.
“We certainly ended the summer with a bang!.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Parker Meadows incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The home provides full-time residential care, nursing care, dementia care and respite care, in addition to independent living bungalows also on site. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
