Worcester care home hosts sports day and toasts 10th birthday

With the Olympics fast approaching, a Worcester care home is limbering up for its very own sporting tournament and special anniversary celebrations.

On Wednesday 24^th July, from 2.30pm-4pm, Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, will be bringing Paris to Worcester as it opens its doors for local people to enjoy their own version of the Games and to celebrate the home’s 10^th birthday.

The event comes as Perry Manor joins The Big Care UK Sports Day, which sees over 130 Care UK homes across the UK host sports days for the local community and showcase what life in a care home is really like. 

Guests can soak up the sporting atmosphere and, for those daring to compete, have the chance to win their own gold medals with an afternoon of fun and games, including egg-and-spoon, three-legged and torch relay races.

Visitors can also enjoy a Olympic inspired buffet cooked by the home’s talented head chef, while listening to live entertainment from performer Ruby.

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “The Olympics has brought about a fantastic opportunity to rediscover residents’ own sporting history and passion – and we’re keen to share this sporting fever with the local community and to celebrate an incredible 10 years.

“We have some very competitive residents here, and I’m sure there will be quite a few close calls in the hunt for medals. We’re looking forward to crowning the winners this July and marking a decade of being open in true Perry Manor fashion!”

Perry Manor is a state-of-the-art Care UK home, which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care.
