Festival season is coming to Kent – and you won’t believe where they’re taking place.
Five Care UK care homes across Kent are set to hit the right note as they open their doors to local people for an unforgettable summer of music and entertainment.
The fun-filled festivals come as each home celebrates Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
At Harrier Lodge, in Whitstable, the local community can enjoy a barbeque on the 28 June between 1.30pm-3pm, before sitting down with the home’s cuddle club to enjoy a barking-mad afternoon as the home’s fur-bulous friends display their best tricks.
Over in Maidstone on 1 July, at Invicta Court, there will be a ukulele inspired music festival, and a special visit from local amdram group, Avenue Theatre Group, who will be performing a selection of songs from their recent production. Guests can also enjoy a traditional barbecue, prepared by the home’s Head Chef.
In Ashford, on 27 June from 1pm, team members and residents will be welcoming local entertainer, Simon Wheeler, who will be playing songs from the 1940s and 1950s alongside the Land Army Girls.
In Orpington, Foxbridge House will be hosting a summer fate on 1 July, complete with tombola and traditional barbeque food.
Finally, in Sevenoaks, the local community is invited to step back into the 1960s alongside residents and team members for a flower power themed festival, complete with 1960s and 70s music provided by a local entertainer.
Maria Covington, Home Manager at Weald Heights, commented: “We have our dancing shoes (and wellies!) at the ready as we gear up to celebrate Care Home Open Week and get set to welcome summer in style.
“At Care UK, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to support residents to lead fulfilling lives – and what better way to do that than to host our very own festivals, as we pull out all the musical stops across Kent.
“We’re excited to open our doors to the Kent community for what promises to be a summer of truly memorable events – come along and join us for a musically good time!”

Harrier Lodge, Foxbridge House, Invicta Court, Montfort Manor and Weald Heights are purpose-built care homes designed to deliver luxury hotel-style comfort for residents, complete with a café, hair and beauty salon, cinema and beautiful gardens. The homes are divided into separate residential, nursing and dementia care suites, encouraging close-knit communities where residents can get to know each other, and where people with similar needs can be cared for together.
