Festival season is in full swing in Bury St Edmunds – with three summer events set to take the stage.
On Saturday 1st July, from 11am-4pm, Care UK’s Davers Court is set to hit the right note as it opens its doors to local people to visit the brand-new Davers Summer of Love Festival.
Glastonbury Court will be inviting the local community to join their fun-filled Glastonbury at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday 22nd July, from 11am-4.30pm, and Mildenhall Lodge is opening its doors on Saturday 29th July, from 11am-4pm, when they will be joined by some special furry friends.
The festival inspired events come as Davers Court, Glastonbury Court and Mildenhall Lodge celebrate Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Davers Court’s Summer of Love Festival will see guests invited to dance along to live entertainment from Darrin Sings who will be performing classic hits from across the decades – sure to get the party started. Visitors will also be treated to a barbecue, specially prepared by the home’s talented head chef.
At Glastonbury Court, there will be a Punch and Judy Show for residents and guests alike to enjoy. The home will also be welcoming local singer, Brian, who will entertain with songs from across the decades, followed by a banjo performance, set to take centre stage to close the festival.
Joining in the summer fun, Mildenhall Lodge’s special event will have a couple of miniature horses that everyone will have the opportunity to stroke and pet. There will also be a tombola, where visitors can try their luck to win a host of prizes.
Sophie Evans, Home Manager at Davers Court, commented: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our festival celebrations here in Bury St Edmunds.
“Care Home Open Week offers the perfect opportunity to get together with loved ones, show what life in our homes is really like, and enjoy a celebration of live music. Many residents at our Bury St Edmunds homes have fond memories of watching live music in their younger years, and we hope these events will encourage them to look back and relive these happy times.
“We have many music-loving residents here in Bury St Edmunds, and we’re really excited to ring in summer in style as we host our first ever festivals. We can’t wait to strike a chord with residents and the wider Bury St Edmunds community!”
