Bury St Edmunds care home day club opens in style

A care home in Bury St Edmunds has officially opened a day club for older people in the community – with the help of a special guest.

Care UK’s Davers Court, on Shakers Lane, celebrated the opening of ‘The Davers Court Day Centre’ with the help of special guest, Councillor Cliff Waterman.

The day club, set to be popular among local, older people, will feature its own reminiscence room and beauty salon, giving visitors access to hairdressing services – or a chance to enjoy a pamper session. Members will also be given the opportunity to use a music room and take part in a range of activities, from arts and crafts to gardening, and day trips too.

To mark its official opening, the ribbon was cut by team members at Davers Court, including Home Manager, Sophie Evans, Day Club Manager, Ellen Freeman, and local Councillor, Cliff Waterman, and residents Chris Thompson and June Searle.

Ellen Freeman, Day Club Manager at Davers Court, said: “We’re thrilled to announce ‘The Davers Court Day Centre’ has officially opened!

“Here at Davers Court, we’re keen to provide support for members of the community and the day club will offer a warm, welcoming sanctuary to many. We’re hoping the day club will be a hit among local people and it’s wonderful to be able to offer this service to those and around in Bury St Edmunds.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate. We’ve got some fantastic activities lined up for summer, so we look forward to welcoming new faces over the coming weeks and months!”

Now officially open, the Davers Court Day Centre will be open to the community every Wednesday and Thursday, from 9:30am – 4pm, and will open throughout the week depending on numbers. Guests are invited to find out more about summer activities and book their places, by getting in touch with Ellen Freeman, Day Centre Manager, on ellen.freeman@careuk.com
