Residents at an East Grinstead care home stepped through the looking glass for an afternoon of fundraising fun.
The team at Care UK’s Mill View, on Sunnyside Close, donned hats and costumes for a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team welcomed family members and residents to an immersive experience, where the home was adorned with paper chains, balloons, bunting and flowers. Team members dressed as different characters from the books including the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, and Alice herself.
The team raised £114 for the charity and the total is set to be doubled by Care UK’s match-funding a initiative.
Trish Banks, Home Manager at Mill View, said: “We had a brilliant time making our own wonderland. Our Mad Hatter's Tea Party was a huge success and we’re thrilled we raised money for an important charity.
“Here at Mill View, we work hard to come up with entertaining activities, and drawing inspiration from our favourite novels is a great way to promote reminiscence while getting creative and indulging in some tasty goodies. We’re already looking forward to our next tea party!”
