Splash the cash! Enfield care home residents raise £1,800 with community car wash

Residents and team members at an Epsom care home have raised more than £1,800 for charity after taking part in a 40-day fundraising challenge for worthy causes.

Care UK’s Elizabeth Lodge, on Pennington Drive, have been getting involved in a range of fundraising events throughout September to celebrate Care UK’s 40^th birthday, which has seen the care provider attempt to raise £40,000 for good causes. 

As part of their fundraising events, residents have been getting involved in a community car wash, and sponsored walk, which saw residents and team members walk 50 miles around Enfield throughout the forty days.

Matching the residents’ efforts are four Elizabeth Lodge’s team members, who climbed The O2 stadium – much to the resident’s shock. 

In total, the home has raised £1,800, which will be donated to St Clare Hospice in Harlow, who provide free, compassionate care to adults.  

Michelle Sampang, Home Manager at Elizabeth Lodge, said: "We’re beyond proud of everyone who has taken part in our fundraising initiatives, and who have helped achieve this fantastic amount for St Clare Hospice.  

“Here at Elizabeth Lodge, our team are always looking at ways to get involved and make a difference to our local community, and the efforts of the residents and team members in fundraising really is incredible. Everyone’s thoughtful nature is something we see each day in the home, and it’s fantastic to see that continue outside of work, and with the local community.
