Putting their best foot forward - Mobberley care home residents fundraise for charity

Residents and team members at a Mobberley care home recently took part in the Cheshire memory walk to support a charity close to their hearts.

To mark World Alzheimer’s month, residents and team members from Care UK’s Cranford Grange, on Hall Lane, took part in a 2.5km route around Tatton’s Parkland in Knutsford and are hoping to raise £400 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Throughout the year, thousands of people of all ages and abilities join their local Alzheimer’s Memory Walks, all to help raise money for a ‘world without dementia.’

Joining team members on the walk were residents, Beryl, Jean, Barbara, Margaret and Margot, who proudly wore their Members Memory Walk Medals. Commenting on the day, resident Jean said: “This was the most walking I’ve done since coming out of hospital, so it felt like such an achievement to walk this far – and for such a worthy cause too.”

Following the walk, the events organizers kindly allowed residents and team members to enjoy a picnic in the field adjacent to the park. While residents enjoying a picnic prepared by the home’s talented head chef, the group spoke to local volunteers about living with Alzheimer’s and the advances made in treating the condition.

Lisa Burrows, General Manager at Cranford Grange, said “A fantastic day was had by everyone involved – and I’m thrilled to have participated for such a wonderful charity. At Cranford Grange, we offer Residential Dementia care and are always looking to support the wider community, and everyone got involved in the fundraising activities to support the work of the Alzheimer’s Society.

“The Alzheimer’s Society’s care and research to help people with dementia and their families is vital, and we hope this donation will play a part in supporting their invaluable work. We loved getting our steps in for a good cause, and we’re already looking forward to taking on our next challenge.”

“A big well done to everyone that took part – well done Cranford Grange!”
