One of the most coveted and prestigious awards in the health and social care sectors has been presented to Care UK.
At a ceremony in London last night attended by some of the most senior figures in health and social care, Care UK won the trophy in the Residential Care Provider of the Year category award for larger organisations.
Commenting on the win, Chief Executive Andrew Knight said: “Competition for this award is always very strong and it was a great honour to be invited to accept it as an organisation. Every single one of our 12,500 colleagues should feel immensely proud – they have all played their part in ensuring we deliver superb care to residents in our care homes. It is their dedication and hard work which ensures residents in our homes live fulfilling lives. It’s also credit to our teams that we have more homes rated as good or outstanding than any other large provider, demand from people wanting to join our teams continues to be strong and Care UK is very much seen as an employer of choice”
Andrew went on to say: “On behalf of the senior team at Care UK, I would like to say thank you to everyone who works for Care UK – the last two years have been tough and despite this, we have continued to improve upon the quality of the care we provide, we are still seeing consistently high feedback from relatives and we’ve continued to open new homes – since 2013 we’ve opened 55 and we currently have four under construction. This award is recognition of the dedication and hard work of everyone in Care UK teams across the UK”
As well as the sustained growth through opening new homes, last year, Care UK was also selected to take over the leadership and management of 26 homes which were formerly part of Sunrise Senior Living UK and Gracewell Healthcare.
The Health Investor judges had the following to say about the Care UK entry: “Care UK continue to demonstrate they are one of the top providers in the sector. A focus on quality is clear. They offer nursing services and many other initiatives make this an excellent operator.
“A commitment to and delivery of quality evidenced by CQC ratings, a commitment to staff training and wellbeing and looking at the diverse needs of residents and staff, continued investment in improving properties and opening new facilities.”
The Health Investor Awards have been running for 15 years and were established to promote excellence and recognise innovation in the independent health and social care sectors. They are one of the most highly regarded in the sectors and attract over a thousand guests to the ceremony where the winners are announced.
