What a hoot - Sale care home celebrates second birthday in style

A care home in Sale was joined by some unusual guests to celebrate its second anniversary.

The Care UK team at Oakfield Croft, on Oakfield, pulled out all the stops for a special birthday bash, with owls and snakes joining the fun and marking two years since the home welcomed the first residents.

On the day, as well as the exotic mobile zoo bringing meerkats and skunks, residents were also treated to a BBQ lunchtime spread, specially prepared by the home’s chef, and had the opportunity to tap their feet to live music from Joe Cocks, who performed songs from across the decades. The team also decorated the 50s themed party and everyone was able to enjoy the festivities in the sunshine as well as a celebratory cake.

Joyce, a resident at Oakfield Croft, said: “It was the best experience I’ve ever had and my favourite animal was definitely the snake!

Daniel Cole, Home Manager at Oakfield Croft, said: “It was fantastic to see residents joined by a host of wonderful animals as we all celebrated the home’s memorable milestone.

“The whole team worked hard to organise the event, and I am delighted to say their efforts were a huge success – our birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who makes Oakfield Croft an amazing place to call home, and for helping to make the day extra special.

“The last two years has certainly had its challenges, and I’m incredibly proud of the team’s efforts over the past 24 months to keep life as enjoyable as possible for residents – as they’ve always aimed to do. Our lifestyle team is passionate about supporting everyone to live active and fulfilling lives, so it’s been a pleasure to take part in nationwide initiatives such as the Big Draw Festival and the Big Garden Birdwatch over the last few months, among many more.

“We’re very excited to see what’s in store for the next two years and beyond!”

Oakfield Croft has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence. The new care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities, as well as facilities like a cinema, coffee shop and hair salon.
