A Cringleford care home was delighted to celebrate Chinese New Year.
To mark the occasion, residents at Care UK’s Cavell Court, on Dragonfly Lane, created their very own Chinese dragon and lanterns, while learning more about the meaning behind Chinese New Year.
The home’s head chef also cooked up a tasting menu of Chinese cuisine for residents to enjoy before opening their gold coins and fortune cookies to bring happiness in 2022.
Karen Curle, Home Manager at Cavell Court, said: “Here at Cavell Court, we’re keen to encourage residents to learn more about other countries, their culture and traditions.
“Many residents have celebrated Chinese New Year in their younger years, and the celebration prompted reminiscence, which can be hugely beneficial for older people, especially those living with dementia.
“Everyone also enjoyed learning more about the Chinese Zodiac and the meaning of the Year of the Tiger, and judging by the smiles and empty plates, our Chinese-inspired dishes will be making a re-appearance on the menu in the coming weeks!”
Cavell Court is a modern care home which provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hairdressers, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
