Dancing shoes at the ready – Quorn care home hosts its own carnival

Residents at a Quorn care home enjoyed a special celebration.

Care UK’s Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, hosted its very own carnival, complete with fairground games and live music.

On the day, the home and its garden were adorned with brightly coloured balloons, bunting and signs while team members dressed up as traditional carnival characters, including a psychic, strong man, mime, clown and ring master for a completely immersive experience.

Residents tried their hand at classic fairground games, including hook-a-duck, tin can alley and hoopla, and had the opportunity to tap their feet to live entertainment from local singer Jayne Darling.

Beryl, a resident at Lonsdale Mews, said: “I   loved to sing along to all the songs I knew and have a dance with the team; they made it such fun in their lovely costumes too.”

Toby Sturgess, Home Manager at Lonsdale Mews said: “Our carnival-themed event was a great success, and we loved turning the home into a small fairground."

“Here at Lonsdale Mews, we’re always looking for fun and exciting ways to get residents up and active, and themed events are a great way of doing just that. We have some very competitive residents here, so we all loved putting our skills to the test during the fairground games. It was also a fantastic opportunity to get our dancing shoes on and showcase our best moves too, thanks to Jayne Darling."

I’d like to say a big thank you to the team, who worked tirelessly to organise a real carnival-style celebration and made the day extra special by dressing up.
