Sarisbury Green care home supports local community centre

The team at a new care home marked its opening by donating funds to a local community centre.

Care UK’s Ancasta Grove, on Barnes Lane, donated £500 to Sarisbury Green Community Centre to support their ongoing works to upgrade their facilities.

The funds will be used to purchase new equipment for the kitchen, which, prior to the pandemic, was used to prepare meals for up to 30 older people in the local community every week as part of a regular lunch club, hosted in partnership with charity Communicare.

Sarisbury Green Community Centre Chair, Elliot Honey said: “We’re really grateful to receive funds from the Care UK team. As we gear up to fully reopen to the wider community, it’s essential for us to make sure we can provide high-quality facilities for users of all ages, so we’ve been doing a lot of work behind the scenes.

“Prior to the pandemic, the lunch club was a very popular event, so we can’t wait to welcome members again very soon. On behalf of everyone at the community centre, I’d like to say a big thank you to the Ancasta Grove team for their support – we’re looking forward to building on this relationship as they start welcoming their first residents.”

Raymond Arnold, Home Manager at Ancasta Grove, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to donate funds to Sarisbury Green Community Centre.

“It’s been a difficult year for local groups and charities, so it’s more important than ever to support them in any way we can. The team at the community centre provide fantastic support for older people in the community and are home to a number of local groups – it’s a true community hub, which deserves to have the best facilities possible.

“Here at Ancasta Grove, we encourage residents to remain active and independent and having an active community around us supports that ethos. We hope this donation will help the centre to continue to provide their invaluable support for older people in the wider community.”

Ancasta Grove, which opened its doors in June 2021, has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as respite and end of life care.
