A local care home welcomed green fingered team members from McDonalds Woking to revamp its garden.
As part of the McDonalds ‘Love Where You Live’ initiative, residents at Care UK’s Kingsleigh, on Kingfield Road, were delighted to see the home’s garden transformed by team members from the Woking branch.
The volunteers spent the day jet washing the patio, cleaning out the home’s fish pond, tidying up weeds, planting flowers and setting up a bird-friendly area to encourage residents to enjoy spending time in nature.
Lisa Kitching, Business Manager at McDonalds High Street Woking, said: “The ‘Love Where You Live’ initiative encourages people to support their environment and surrounding community, which couldn’t be more important after the events of the past year.
“We were delighted to help revamp the garden at Kingsleigh and create a new wildlife area for residents to enjoy. My Grandma is in a care home, and I understand the challenges the last year has brought to care home teams and residents across the country, which is why it was so special to be able to do something to put a smile on everyone’s faces at Kingsleigh.”
Kelly Kelleher, Home Manager at Kingsleigh, added: “We were thrilled to have the team members from McDonalds Woking come along to help revamp our garden."
Resident’s love spending time outdoors, and the calming atmosphere is incredibly beneficial for older people, especially those living with dementia.
Kelly KelleherHome Manager"Whether its gardening, having a walk, or watching the birds, spending more time outdoors is something we actively encourage, and the garden revamp will encourage more residents to do just that."
