Olympic fever has well and truly hit at a Bromsgrove care home – and residents have been bringing home gold.
Residents at Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road, brought Tokyo to Bromsgrove with their own version of the Games.
As part of the week-long tournament, residents competed against team members in a range of different activities, including balloon badminton, bean bag tennis, cup pong, and darts with soft balls.
Ensuring the scene was set for an Olympic occasion, the team at Chandler Court went above and beyond by decorating the home with flags and bunting from all the participating nations.
Resident Bill Ewen, said: “I like to walk a lot and keep active so the Chandler Court Games were lots of fun. I really enjoyed the activities, especially winning!”
Vongai Mushinga, Home Manager at Chandler Court, said: “We strive to create an environment that enables people to live fulfilling lives, so we regularly encourage physical activity as a way of improving residents’ physical and mental wellbeing, and this was a great opportunity to discover new hobbies too.
“We have some very competitive and skilled sporting residents, especially in our balloon badminton tournaments. Football may not have come home this year, but the gold medals certainly are to Chandler Court!”
