Chocolate goodies for older people in East Grinstead

A care home in East Grinstead gifted their local Age UK branch with sweet treats.

Care UK’s Mill View care home, on Sunnyside Close, assembled 40 boxes of chocolate for Age UK East Grinstead for World Chocolate Day.

The boxes, which were assembled by the Mill View team, included a selection of chocolates, and were shared with the community as part of the Meals on Wheels initiative.

Meals on Wheels is a service which supports local people who find it difficult to cook for themselves. Last year, Age UK East Grinstead provided 3,745 to members of the community.

Rachel Woodward, Home Manager at Mill View, said: “The chocolate donations gave us a terrific opportunity to reach out to individuals in our local community and spread some positivity this World Chocolate Day.

“Meals on Wheels, as provided by Age UK East Grinstead, can be a lifeline for those in the community who need extra support. Nutrition is key, especially when it comes to caring for older people, so a warm, home-cooked meal makes a world of difference.

“We were delighted to be able to contribute and donate the boxes to such a worthy initiative, and we hope everyone enjoyed their sweet treat!”

Lana Scott, Community Centre Manager at Age UK East Grinstead, said “We are really grateful for Mill View’s support. The chocolate boxes were a lovely surprise for the recipients and put a smile on everyone’s faces. On behalf of everyone at Age UK East Grinstead, I’d like to say a big thank you to Rachel and her team for their generous donation.”
