A care home in Leamington Spa marked last weekend’s mane event with a special party.
Care UK’s Priors House, on Old Milverton Lane, hosted its very own Grand National celebrations.
The event, complete with an afternoon tea specially made by the home’s chef, was held in the home’s cinema to allow residents to watch the race on the big screen. The room was adorned with Union Jack flags and horse racing-themed decorations to offer a more immersive experience.
Kath, a resident at Priors House, commented: “It's almost like we've left the building and were really there in person.”
Francine Summers, Home Manager at Priors House, said: “The Grand National is a popular event among residents, and we have some keen punters here at Priors House, so we thought we’d organise something special.
“The whole team worked hard to decorate our cinema for the occasion and prepare a delicious afternoon tea to enjoy during the main event, which really made us feel like we’d been transported to the races for an afternoon. Our celebrations brought back many happy memories from residents’ younger years too and prompted a lot of interesting conversations around horse racing events throughout the years.
“It was a big success, and we’re already looking forward to our next racing event.”
