Witney care home helps the community to go digital

A care home in Witney is inviting the community to join a free virtual event to help people keep in touch in the digital age.

On Thursday 12th November, from 2.30pm-3.30pm, Care UK’s Millers Grange, on Curbridge Road, will be hosting the online beginner’s course in virtual communication for local older people.

Witney care home helps the community to go digitalIT Consultant, Martin Vines, will be hosting the session to help people understand more about the best ways to keep in touch with family and friends virtually. On the day, he will be covering a variety of tools and software, including Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp and Zoom, as well as offering top tips for keeping safe online.

Alison Parry, Home Manager at Millers Grange, said: “Here at Millers Grange, we understand that it can be tricky to keep up with modern technology. With so many families relying on video calls to keep in touch at the moment, we know just how important it is to be able to use certain tools to communicate virtually.

“It’s not just about practical ways of keeping in touch, it’s about the wellbeing of our communities, and how we can keep looking out for each other during these challenging times. With new lockdown measures coming into force, it’s more important than ever to show just how easy it can be to make the most out of the tools available to us, no matter age or ability with new technologies.

“We look forward to seeing everyone virtually for what promises to be an informative event.”

For anyone unsure about how to take part in the virtual event, help is at hand. The team at Miller’s Grange will host the event using Zoom, an online meeting space. Simply call or email Customer Relations Manager, Jim MacLeod, and he will send a link to join the event and can call participants to help set up Zoom ahead of the session.

Millers Grange has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential dementia and respite care, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
