Residents at a care home in Witney are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities this January.

Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday 25^th to Monday 27^th January, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the species in their garden.

Alongside Care UK homes across the country, Millers Grange, on Curbridge Road, will be celebrating the best of British birds by making chocolate bird nest cakes, playing bird bingo and topping it off with a special trip to Birdland, which is home to over 130 species of birds.

Stephen Reader, home manager at Millers Grange, explained why discovering our wildlife is an important activity: “Everyone is really looking forward to celebrating British birds this January and learning more about our feathered friends. We’ve been researching British birds common to Witney and are very excited to be taking part in a variety of activities throughout January.

“Residents here at Millers Grange have a keen interest in nature, so we thought that researching local wildlife, visiting Birdland would be the perfect way to discover what’s on our doorstep. We’d like to thank RSPB for inspiring us to get involved - we can’t wait to get started!”
