A care home in Eye welcomed French visitors to celebrate 30 years of the town’s twinning partnership.
Care UK’s Hartismere Place, on Castleton Way, played host to 70 visitors from Pouzauges, as part of the town’s twinning initiative, which aims to promote friendships and cultural understanding between the linked towns. On the day, guests enjoyed a tour of the home, followed by a cream tea with residents and members of Hartismere Place’s day centre. The home also welcomed local member of parliament, Dr Dan Poulter, for the occasion. Organised by The Eye and District Twinning Association, the celebratory tour of Eye included visits to several of the town’s best local organisations, allowing visitors to learn more about local cultural, recreational and commercial activities.
Abhilash Gopi, home manager at Hartismere Place, said: “Here at Hartismere Place, we strive to create strong relationships and to play an active role in the local community. “We were delighted to be asked to host our Pouzauges friends for the day, and to show them what life at Hartismere Place is really like. Guests and residents loved finding out more about each other’s lives, and we hope to welcome our French friends back into the home very soon!” Hartismere Place has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives.
The home provides full-time residential and nursing care, as well as short-term respite. Hartismere Place also runs a day club, which offers older people living independently in the community the chance to make new friends and take part in enjoyable activities.
