Residents, team members, and special guests joined the Mayor at the grand launch of Millers Grange last week, at a party that was also attended by Councillor Lawrie Stratford, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health.
It was an afternoon of celebration, which saw Councillor Duncan Enright cut the ribbon to officially open the care home, whilst children from the neighbouring Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School provided guests with a musical performance. The party spirit continued, with vintage singer Beth Belle entertaining the crowd with classic tunes from the 1940s.
Fun and games followed the official proceedings, with friendly therapy dogs from Canine Concern Oxfordshire gaining much attention from visitors, whilst residents and guests honed their flower arranging skills and also enjoyed a keep fit demonstration. There was also the opportunity to have a go on the home’s dementia-friendly ‘Magic Table’, which featured games such as catching butterflies and sweeping up leaves.
Millers Grange home manager, Steve Reader, said: “Our Grand Launch party was an unprecedented success and was the ideal way to mark such an important moment for Millers Grange. The local schools, businesses and neighbours have been so warm and welcoming; we feel like we are already part of the community.
“We were delighted to have such honourable guests amongst us, and it was fantastic to see residents, team members, friends, family and locals all joining in the fun. It was truly a day to remember.”
