On Friday 28th June, from 2pm - 5pm, the team at Farm Lane will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Farm Lane has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors will be joined by Mayor of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Councillor Daryl Brow, to kick off the celebrations, and can look forward a barbecue, including foods inspired by places around the world.
Maria Foster, home manager at Farm Lane, said: “Creative activities are such an important part of life for people in care, whether it’s painting to help enhance hand-eye coordination, or just reminiscing by putting on some music – the arts are a vital part of life here at Farm Lane.
“We’re so excited to be hosting our Care Home Open Day event this Friday 28th June. We had a brilliant time when we did this last year so it made sense for us to open our doors to the local people of Fulham again and show them just how much fun you can have in a care home.”
