From 10am-12 noon, Glastonbury Court on Glastonbury Road is inviting the community to join residents for a morning of coffee, cake and catch-ups. Davers Court, on Shakers Lane will also be opening its doors from 11am-12:30pm to help raise money for the 2.5 million people facing cancer across the UK.
Guests will enjoy a relaxing day sharing a cuppa with residents, along with a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats - all of which will be available for a small donation to Macmillan.
Every year Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in kitchens, offices and village halls across the globe to fundraise for people facing cancer. Since the very first coffee morning in 1990 over £165.5 million has been raised for the charity, enabling them to support individuals from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
Home manager, Sharlene Van Tonder, explained why Glastonbury Court is taking part in Macmillan Coffee Morning: “The difficulty of facing cancer is a problem most of us know far too well, whether through watching the struggle of a friend or family member, or battling the illness ourselves, so we understand the importance of the work that Macmillan does.”
Wendy Harvey, home manager at Davers Court added: “This coffee morning gives us a wonderful opportunity to invite local people, family and friends to join us for a fun morning, while raising funds to support the vital services provided by Macmillan. It’s set to be a great morning and we hope the local community will join the Care UK team who will have been busy whisking up a storm for the event!”
