Davers Court was one of thousands of care homes across the UK to take part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Residents and visitors enjoyed a glass of Pimms, a delicious summer barbecue and cream tea on the lawn, while entertainment from local group, ‘Now N Then’, got everyone into the party spirit with classics from the 50s and 60s.
Visitors were also encouraged to compete against the care team in the home’s sports day event which included, a hoola-hooping contest and an egg and spoon race.
Wendy Harvey, home manager at Davers Court, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day is a particular highlight each year as it is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our home and celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike.
“This year’s event was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links within the local community. We hope that all our visitors enjoyed themselves as much as we did and look forward to welcoming them back to the home for events in the future.”
