From 10.30am-4.30pm, the team at Collingwood Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
Collingwood Court has organised a day of fun to celebrate the open day. Visitors to the ‘Fish Quay Day’ can expect to enjoy an afternoon of fisherman's tales, including a talk from Brian Chambers, a member of the Association of Retired Fishermen, about his days as a fisherman and guests will be able to try their hand at making a fisherman's net.
Homemade fish and chips will be served in a traditional cardboard box, alongside live entertainment from Ruth Harvey to get everyone in the party spirit.
Maggie Harrison, home manager at Collingwood Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.
“We cannot wait to open our doors to the community to showcase everything Collingwood Court has to offer and the difference care homes make to residents’ lives and their wellbeing. We have planned a fun day for all the family and a warm welcome awaits the people of North Shields.”
