A trio of topping out ceremonies as Care UK and partners celebrate £18m investment in three new home

Major milestones have been marked on three new care homes being developed by Care UK with topping out ceremonies held at new sites in Sevenoaks, Horsham and Ferndown in Dorset.

In Sevenoaks, the Mayor, Andrew Eyre, joined Care UK Chief Executive Mike Parish and representatives from construction partner, Lawrence Baker, to place the final tile on the roof of the new care home which will be known as Weald Heights.

This Kent home is set to be Care UK’s flagship development and, when complete, will offer super premium rooms and an upgraded dining and an enhanced, bespoke package of activities for the residents. The project will create over 100 new jobs when the home is fully commissioned and will welcome its first residents in early 2017.

Speaking at the ceremony in Sevenoaks, Mike Parish said: This home has been sensitively designed to accommodate the needs of residents and the team at Lawrence Baker has worked with us to achieve our vision of a welcoming but luxurious environment.”

When complete, the three-storey, purpose-built care home will boost the provision of quality residential, dementia and nursing care for up to 80 older people, as well as creating jobs in the local community.

In Horsham, Councillor Andrew Baldwin joined representatives from Care UK and construction partner, Castleoak, to mark the topping out of a new Sussex home. The £6 million investment will become home for up to 82 local people and will be known as Skylark House when it opens just before Christmas this year.

And in Dorset, the Mayor of Ferndown, Councillor Mike Parkes, led an event with representatives from Care UK and Pennyfarthing Homes to celebrate the completion of the roof of the new Ferndown Manor care home. This project will create up to 120 jobs when the home is fully commissioned and will welcome the first of its 75 residents in January 2017.

Care UK currently offers 114 care homes in locations as diverse as Edinburgh, Worcestershire, Suffolk and the South Coast of England.
