It is that time of year again at Mowat Court when we eat cake and drink coffee to raise money for MacMillan, the cancer charity.
On Saturday 21st September, between 10am and 11.30am, we will be joining the nationwide MacMillan Coffee Morning appeal to raise funds and awareness for the charity that does amazing work for people with cancer and their families.
Activities coordinator and organiser Lorna Hutcheon said: “Cancer is one of those terrible conditions that seem to touch every family in some way or another.
“Our residents love to bake and they will be making a contribution to our home-made cake stall. They make some particularly tasty butterfly cakes and they also love making ‘Daniel O’Donnell’ cakes. These are sponge cakes topped with pictures of Daniel and their other favourite singers printed with edible ink on rice paper.”
The residents are not the only ones who will be baking. Lorna says that the team at Mowat Court, along with the relatives and chef, have all pledged to get involved.
The event begins at 10am in the lounge and residents’ and the team’s families are all welcome.
