Congratulations to our outstanding team from the Philippines

In 2010, Paisley Court welcomed a group of newly qualified nurses from the Philippines who joined as support workers.

When they were not working in the home, they were studying for the Masters qualification in Nursing at John Moores University, Liverpool, and the rest of the team at the home were delighted to hold a celebration for them to mark their graduation.

May Mariano, Phol Villanueva, Charmaine Pintor, Elsa Abad, Nilda Speight, Mica Herrera and Rowena Villanueva attended their graduation at Liverpool Cathedralin July and they were supported by members of the team as their families, in the Philippines, were unable to attend.

Back at the home, residents joined in the celebration with a presentation of cards and flowers for the new graduates. There was a further presentation too for Elsa Abad who had been successfully nominated for a Care UK GEM award, which recognises team members who have gone the extra mile in their work.

Home Manager Allison Kennie said: “We were so lucky that these wonderful people joined us. Each of them is so kind, caring and compassionate towards our residents and we are all incredibly proud of them and their wonderful achievement.”

Elsa said: “On behalf of my friends, I would like to sincerely thank our Home Manager and the entire team. We are so blessed to be part of this team. It is a great opportunity and a privilege to work with them.

“Thank you for being supportive in our studies. Thank you for the encouraging words that guided and focussed us on all we wanted to achieve and, most of all, thank you for the care that you extended to us.”
