Paisley Court shortlisted for national award

Home news

Paisley Court is celebrating after being shortlisted for a national industry award.

Paisley Court has been shortlisted in the Best Specialist Care category at the national Care Home Awards. The accolade recognises the team’s commitment to providing a safe, caring environment to all residents, no matter how complex their needs.

The Care Home Awards are held annually to celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, culminating in an awards ceremony on Wednesday 27th June. The 17 categories highlight excellence within the care sector, and reward those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care.

The team at Paisley Court has been praised by the residents’ families for its high level of care, and for the kindness shown towards residents. Always willing to go the extra mile, the team’s innovative and creative attitude has contributed to making many residents’ lives better.

One resident in particular had struggled to settle in at his five previous care homes, and has now been living happily at Paisley Court since February 2017. The team ensured they got to know the resident and soon realised he was a lifelong football fan, so began to organise monthly visits to Everton FC.

Another resident found it difficult to interact as English isn’t his first language. The team therefore began to speak with him in Mandarin, his mother tongue, and arranged regular visits from volunteers in the Chinese community, as well as sharing Chinese newspapers and subtitled films with him.

The home has also appointed a dementia champion, who will provide leadership and support to the rest of the team to ensure the needs of residents living with dementia are met.

Amanda Ashton, home manager at Paisley Court, said: “We’re delighted to receive national recognition from the care sector for our care expertise, and are hopeful that we can reach the finals and win the category.

“Making sure every resident receives the best possible care is our absolute priority. Everyone here at Paisley Court works incredibly hard to provide our residents with compassionate, person-centred care and I’m delighted that our efforts have been recognised.”
