Merseyside care home collects warm clothes for vulnerable people this Christmas

A local care home has become a drop-off point for clothing and other warm items, which will be donated to a local charity that helps the homeless and other vulnerable people in Liverpool’s city centre.

Care UK’s Paisley Court, on Gemini Drive, will give the donated items to the charity Your Project Liverpool, which then hand them out to homeless and other vulnerable people at its annual Christmas dinner on 27th December at OSQA Sports Bar, on Oldham Square.

In addition to the clothes, the attendees will also receive some festive food, prepared by volunteers including chefs from Paisley Court, and enjoy a performance from a local choir.

Your Project Liverpool was created by Paisley Court’s very own lifestyle co-ordinator, Stephen Taylor, who has been growing the the organisation for three years, and now has a team of 40 volunteers. Stephen often involves the care home in his charitable activities and residents love to be included and always ask for updates on how he is getting on.

Amanda Ashton, home manager at Paisley Court, said: “We are all very proud of Stephen’s work at Your Project Liverpool, everything he’s achieved in the past three years is incredible. We are honoured to support this venture, not just by fundraising throughout the year, but by also becoming a drop-off point for clothes and other items that vulnerable people in Liverpool might need over the winter months.

“However, we are not just collecting donations in the run up to this event, we’re glad to announce that this can continue well into the New Year!”

Stephen Taylor, lifestyle co-ordinator at Paisley Court and founder of Your Project Liverpool, said: “I am excited for the Christmas Dinner on 27th December and hope it will bring joy to people who might otherwise have nowhere to go this festive season. We have a fantastic team of volunteers in place, I’m excited to see what we can achieve and how many people we can help.

“Thank you to everyone who has already donated, we know these items will put smiles on many people’s faces this Christmas!”

Paisley Court care home provides full-time residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. The home, which features 60 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence.
