Mowat Courts Jubilee Celebrations

Planning Mowat Court’s jubilee celebrations began two weeks before the big day when residents sat down to decide what, would go down well on the week of the Jubilee,  looking at everything from decorations to games.

On the Friday we decorated the home throughout including putting up home made flags whilst some of the residents chose outfits that they wanted to wear at the garden party on the Tuesday.

A group of 19 residents gathered in the in Mearns dining room on Monday for our day of baking all the cakes which were to be shared with family, residents and staff at the garden party.  They made 52 cakes in all which we decorated in the afternoon.

Residents also helped to decorate Mowat Court with flags and banners which they had made.

The morning of the garden party residents dressed in their special outfits and some joined staff in decorating the summer house and laying the tables. There were union jack party plates, cups cake holders, napkins and party blowers.

Family and friends started to arrive after lunch and we started to go out to the gardens. The weather was beautiful and everyone sat outside and enjoyed music, a bite to eat and some of the residents toasted the Queen with a “wee sherry”.

There was  great support from staff, families and friends and everyone had a good time.
