Sixteen staff at Haven Lodge were presented with NVQ qualifications, Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, at a special service at our home.
Service Improvement Manager Violet Kotu said: “We had a presentation with our 50 residents and staff and we were joined by Shirley Connelly, South East Essex PCT commissioner and Jo Vasey, Care UK’s Regional Director Essex Region presented the certificates and badges. Helen Gidlow Service improvement director also attended.
“I am very proud of all of them. This means 84% of staff in the home now have an NVQ 2 qualification and 44% an NVQ 3, which is a high level but we are hoping to take it even higher.”
She added: “Our staff are selected not only for their experience and qualifications but also for their caring approach.
“Each resident has their own key worker responsible for ensuring that each individual’s personal needs are met. Our staff work closely with residents and their relatives to formulate a unique personal care plan which will be reviewed on a regular basis as their needs develop and their interests change.”
