Haven Lodge wins approval of national care inspectors

A national care watchdog has given Haven Lodge the seal of approval, with relatives and residents praising its caring and attentive team members. 

The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report gave Haven Lodge an overall ‘good’ rating, following an unannounced inspection. 

The home received ‘good’ ratings in all five categories, including safety, effectiveness, level of care, responsiveness and having a well-led service. 

Inspectors commented on the kind and caring manner of the team, with residents being complimentary about the care and support they receive. One resident told inspectors that they were “safe and felt secure with all those who supported them”. Another added, “I am happy here and well looked after.” 

It was noted how the team at Haven Lodge understood the support people needed to promote residents’ independence and freedom and were treated with respect and dignity. 

Inspectors observed how residents felt comfortable in the presence of the care team who treated people with genuine warmth. When asked about the team a resident said: “they are really lovely, very good, considerate, always concerned that you’ve got what you need.” 

The positive feedback about the team’s passion to provide compassionate, attentive care was also echoed by the visiting relatives inspectors spoke to, one said that they have a “lovely rapport” with their loved one, another commented how their relative is treated “as an individual, it’s very personal and I see them treating others in the same way.”
