Party time – Clacton-on-Sea care home celebrates 30 years of care

A care home in Clacton-on-Sea has celebrated its thirtieth birthday, welcoming relatives and friends to join in with anniversary festivities.

Residents at Care UK’s Haven Lodge, on Holland Road, celebrated the home’s pearl jubilee by taking full advantage of the last of the sunny weather, hosting a garden party complete with stalls, a tombola, entertainers providing music and dance, and a barbecue prepared by the home’s talented chefs. 

Having the honour of being Care UK’s oldest home, Haven Lodge has been committed to providing the highest standards of care for three decades.

The celebrations were opened by Care Assistant, Angela Jones who, aged 87, is Haven Lodge’s longest serving team member, having been there from the very beginning.

Reflecting on her time at Haven Lodge, Angela said: “A lot has changed in the world since I started working at Haven Lodge but fundamentally making that difference to someone’s quality of life remains the same – I still love what I do as much as I did on the first day that I started’’.

Anthony Densley, Home Manager at Haven Lodge, added: “It was lovely to see residents, relatives and the team come together to celebrate thirty years of Haven Lodge.

“The team has worked incredibly hard to make the day a special one and it has certainly paid off. Everyone had a brilliant time, and the party was a great opportunity for residents to spend quality time with their loved ones and have some fun – it was lovely to see residents so happy.

“We’ve faced a few challenges over the years but had a lot of fun along the way with plenty of exciting trips out, building new relationships within the community and, most importantly, creating lasting memories for those who live here. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helps make Haven Lodge a wonderful place to live – here’s to another thirty years of providing the highest standards of care!”
