Home Manager

Sabu Prothasis

Im a trained nurse, as well as a registered home manager.

Ive worked as a home manager before coming to Care UK but I never tire of the great feeling that youre making a difference to peoples lives, whether its the residents, the team or the visitors who we meet each day. Ive been working at Care UK since September 2015, and I joined to further my career and to improve my skills and experience. There are always lots of positive challenges: every resident is different and its my and my teams job to ensure were meeting their needs in the way that best suits them.

I work with a wonderful team at Norfolk House and I get great job satisfaction from seeing our team providing the great standard of care that our residents deserve. We strive to provide fulfilling lives for residents – so when I see residents are happy, it makes me happy too.

What’s great about working for Care UK is that they enable you to take your career in different directions, depending on your interests. I’m a registered nurse but have been able to develop to deputy manager, and I’ve had the opportunity to manage the home too.

In 2020 I joined Norfolk House as a Care Assistant, I was delighted to then be given the opportunity to continue on as a Lifestyle Lead.

I had a variety of jobs before joining Care UK, but felt I would like to help people more, and make a difference in their lives. Whilst working in the home I love to hear residents life stories, and to see them happy and feeling fulfilled.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, as well as painting and gardening, hobbies I often get to share with residents within the home.

Business Administrator
10 Year Service Badge

I have worked at Norfolk House for over 15 years with a 2-year break and have found Care UK to be a great company, as they invest in their colleagues and are always encouraging the team to progress further whilst offering support and encouragement throughout.

I started out as a Kitchen Assistant and have progressed in various roles within the home. I took a two-year break to run a Conservative club in Weybridge, which helped to develop my skills further.

Being the Business Administrator for the home requires good communication skills and computer skills as well as being passionate about wanting to help make a difference. The most important part of the role is ensuring clear communication with families, residents, and colleagues at all times.

I enjoy working within a team and supporting others in everyday work-related matters to be able to deliver the best result. I know that this role is another step to help me in the direction of my career, as well as helping to make a difference.

I’ve always wanted to make a difference to people’s lives, and working for Care UK in this role enables me to do just that. I also really enjoy the direct contact I have every day with local people as well as with residents and their families.

I’ve been working for Care UK since 2011 and by far the best reward of working here is seeing the difference you can make to others’ lives – even the smallest gesture can make a resident happy and getting a smile from them in return makes my day.

Head Housekeeper

I have worked for several years across Care UK homes in various positions, including as a carer, senior care and teamleader and housekeeper. Gaining a variety of skills and experiences for the unique situations in a care home setting.

Working within the home requires being a team player and very sociable. Each day it brings me joy to see my team doing a great job. I go home smiling at the end of each day.

The most important part of my role is making sure my team are happy and has the support they need.

I have enjoyed all my previous roles within the home, but being Head Housekeeper is the most satisfying, as you can see the results within the home.
