School children in Stafford have created eye-catching artwork to decorate the hoardings of the town’s newest care home.
Students from Oakridge Primary School were invited by Care UK to get creative with drawings around the theme, ‘People who care for us’. The artwork is now on display on the hoardings surrounding the new care home on Cannock Road, as the building begins to take shape.
Once complete, the multi-million-pound purpose-built care home, expected to open in August 2026, will provide full-time residential and specialist dementia care for up to 76 older people in Stafford, as well as short-term respite care. Additionally, the home will create 90 new jobs for the local community.
The children from Oakridge Primary School recently visited the site to see their artwork on display on the hoardings.
Justin Daley, Development Project Manager at Care UK said: “We were delighted to be able to collaborate with Oakridge Primary School on a lovely art project to brighten up our Stafford home’s hoardings.
“It was great to welcome the children to see their pictures displayed and we look forward to working with the school on future projects.”
Liz Holland, Teacher at Oakridge Primary School, added: “The children really enjoyed producing the artwork which looks fabulous on the hoardings. They were keen to make their drawings look as colourful and attractive as possible.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home in Stafford will incorporate plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, including beautifully landscaped gardens, a hair and beauty salon, cinema and bar.
The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities. The home will provide full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
